UNIX – Unable to view your site

  • Problem: When I go to my site using the preview URL, all I see is an under construction page.

Solution: Make sure you have published your web pages into the folder namedpublic and inside the public folder delete the file index.phtml which is the under construction page. Now do you see your content?

  • Problem: When I go to my site I get the error Forbidden: You don’t have permission to access / (or /foldername) on this server.

Solution: You do not have a correctly named home page for the site or the folder you are trying to view. Every folder on your site must have a home page or must have a .htaccess file which overrides the need for a home page and allows a listing of files to display instead. Typically your homepage would be namedindex.html make sure you have a file with this name inside your public folder or any other folder you are trying to view. Home pages must be named in all lower case. Both the name of the file (index) and the file extension (.html) must belower case.

  • Problem: I can see my site using the preview URL, but it won’t work using my domain name.

Solution: Contact EasyStreet Support at 503-968-3279. We can help you determine the source of the problem. Common causes are:

    • DNS is not yet set up for your domain or is still pointed at your old hosting provider.
    • DNS is no longer pointing at EasyStreet’s name servers due to a billing problem with your domain registrar.
    • Your office location has its own name servers and there is a DNS entry in the name server or lmhosts file which points to an old IP address for your site.
