  Older Apple OS Dial-Up Instructions

  1. Install and setup your modem.
    Instructions can be found in your modem's manual.
  2. Turn on AppleTalk.
    From the Apple Menu select the Chooser.
    In the lower-right corner of the Chooser, next to AppleTalk choose Active.
    Restart your computer.
  3. Set up your dialer
    Go to your Apple menu, then Control Panels, and see whether you have FreePPP or ConfigPPP. FreePPP Configuration
    Bring up FreePPP and fill in the items as below.
    Here's the General tab.
    • Connect to: EasyStreet
    • From: Home
    • Using: (Your Modem)
    • Check Allow applications to open connection
    • Check Disconnect if idle for 10 minutes

    Here's the Account tab.
    Use 503-677-2100 for regular modems. Use 503-677-2110 for ISDN modems.
    • Server Name: EasyStreet
    • Area code: 503
    • Phone number: 677-2100
    • Connect: Directly
    • User name: Access Username from your Account Information
    • Password: Access Password from your Account Information
    • In Portland, checke the Dial Area Code Box

    Here's the Locations tab.
    • Location name: Home
    • Area code: 503
    • Long distance prefix: 1

    Here's the Modems tab.
    This is for a typical 28.8 modem. Your modem may have a different configuration or init string. It's very important to have Flow Control set as shown.
    • Modem config name: Generic Modem
    • Connected to: Modem Port
    • Port Speed: 57600 bps
    • Flow Control: CTS & RTS (DTR)
    • Dial Type: Tone
    • Check Speaker enabled
    • Check Hangup on disconnect

    ConfigPPP Configuration
    Bring up Config PPP and make a New PPP Server called EasyStreet.
    • Port Name: Modem Port
    • Idle Timeout (minutes): 10
    • Echo Interval (seconds): Off
    • Check Hangup on close
    • Check Quiet Mode
    • PPP Server: EasyStreet

    Click on Config and change the phone number to 503-677-2100.
    • PPP Server Name: EasyStreet
    • Port Speed: 57600
    • Flow Control: CTS & RTS (DTR)
    • Check Tone Dial
    • Phone num: 503-677-2100
    • Modem Init: AT & F1
    • Modem connect timeout: 90 seconds
    ConfigPPP

    Click on Connect Script and enter your username and password. Click OK.
    • Wait timeout: 40 seconds
    • Check Wait in:
    • CheckOut (your Access Username) check CR
    • Check Wait rd:
    • Check Out (your Access Password) check CR
    • Check Out
    • Check Out
    • Check Out
    • Check Out

  4. Setting up your TCP/IP protocol.
    Go to your Apple menu, then Control Panels, and see whether you have MacTCP or TCP/IP. Open Transport TCP/IP
    Open the TCP/IP control panel and fill in the information as shown below.
    • Connect Via: PPP
    • Configure: Using PPP Server
    • Name server addr.: 206.26.36.34   198.107.0.14
    • Search domains: easystreet.com
    TCP/IP Control Panel MacTCP
    Bring up the MacTCP control panel.
    Select PPP and click on More.
    Fill in the information as shown below. You'll have to restart you Mac for these changes to take affect.
    • Obtain Address: check Server
    • Class: A
    • Domain: dns1.easystreet.com   IP Address 206.26.36.34
    • Domain: dns2.easystreet.com   IP Address 198.107.0.14
    • Gateway Address: 206.103.35.247
