(Apple) Macintosh OS 9 Dial-Up Instructions

  1. Install and setup your modem.
    Instructions can be found in your modem's manual.
  2. Set up the Remote Access Control Panel (formerly PPP).
    From the Apple Menu select Control Panels, and open the Remote Access Control Panel.
    Enter the following settings:
    • Name: your Access Username
    • Password: your Access Password
    • Number: Portland modem users use 503-677-2100, otherwise use the most appropriate phone number from the list at left.

  3. Set up Open Transport TCP/IP
    From the Apple Menu select Control Panels, and open the TCP/IP Control Panel.
    Enter the following settings:
    • Connect Via: PPP
    • Configure: Using PPP Server
    • Name server addr.: 69.30.0.200   209.162.195.5
    • Search domains: easystreet.com

  4. Set up the Internet Control Panel
    From the Apple Menu select Control Panels, and open the Internet Control Panel.
    On the Personal tab, enter the following settings:
    • Name: enter your full name (or however much of it you use)
    • Email Address: your username@yourdomain, in most cases this will be username@easystreet.com
    • Organization: the organization this account is associated with, if none, leave it blank

    On the Email tab, enter the following settings:
    • User Account ID: your email username
    • Incoming Mail Server: pop.easystreet.com
    • Password: your email password
    • Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server: smtp.easystreet.com
    • Default E-mail Application: choose your email application from the list or browse to it by choosing Select...

    On the News tab, enter the following settings:
    • News (NNTP) Server: news.easystreet.com
    • Connect to News Server as: Registered User
    • Name: your email username
    • Password: your email password
    • Default News Application: choose your email application from the list or browse to it by choosing Select...

  5. Restart Your Computer
  6. You're Done!
  7. Set up your Email Software.
