Version 6.x Desktop Agents are not supported. ___________________________________________________________ =========================================================== 2 FEATURES New Features in the 6.40 release: New language files have been integrated into the 6.40.2584a version This version supports Bare Metal Restore type backups which in turn can be used by "EVault System Restore" to perform a Bare Metal Restore. A version 6.02 (or later) Vault is required to supply the licensing for Bare Metal Restore type backups. The Agent is supported on all environments currently supported by the existing 6.x Windows Agents. ----------------------------------------------------------- New Features in the 6.30 release: Support for CentralControl on Windows Server 2008 Support for 6.3 Agents on Windows Server 2008. (System State for Windows Server 2008 is not supported for Backups and Restores.) ----------------------------------------------------------- New Features in the 6.12 Release: Support for Netware Agent 6.00 ----------------------------------------------------------- New Features in the 6.11 Release: With Windows Agent 6.10, Mailbox AD names are now the same as displayed in Exchange System Manager Console. NOTE that this may cause a reseed if the names get changed. ----------------------------------------------------------- New Features in the 6.10 Release: Support for HP-UX and Linux version 6 Agents. HP-UX now also supports "Execution Priority" in Advanced Options. ----------------------------------------------------------- New Features in the 6.0 Release: Disable Bandwidth Throttling on Restore: The option to use all available bandwidth on restore is now available. Added support for enhanced SMTP Notification settings. Additional settings are as follows: Port number Username Password Domain Support for SharePoint Plug-In for backup and restores of MS SharePoint Server Portal 2003 and MS Office SharePoint Server 2007. Support for Windows Vista Backup and Restore by 6.0 Agents. Support for MS Exchange 2007 DR and MAPI backup and restore functionality by 6.0 Agents. ___________________________________________________________ =========================================================== 3 FIXES Windows CentralControl did not propagate SMTP credentials. When propagating Notification settings in Windows CentralControl, the SMTP login credentials are not propagated. Thus, you must manually enter the user name, password, and domain for each agent in their group. The propagation log reports no errors, and the other notification information is propagated, such as "Email from" and Recipient addresses, as well as the SMTP address and port. (13195) In Windows CentralControl, the Schedule Wizard showed that the VBA task destination is "Directory on disk", when the actual destination is a tape library. (13085) Unix folders (not files) with the same name, but in different cases (upper/lower) did not appear correctly in the Restore Wizard. Now Unix operating systems show multiple folders with the same name if the case is different. Other operating systems do not. (11525) A retention name of exactly 12 characters prevented changing the default retention on a job. Error was: "Retention "" no longer exists." (11427) Windows CentralControl version 6 did not display more than five VMs in the Restore Wizard. If more than five VMs have been backed up using the VMWare ESX Plug-In, only the first five machines were displayed in the Restore Wizard. (11072) Windows CentralControl Search utility during restore wizard did not work correctly, even though files should match the search criteria. (10956) ___________________________________________________________ =========================================================== 4 KNOWN ISSUES The Deferring option is not available within the Backup Wizard when configuring an Oracle DB backup Job. WORKAROUND: Modify the VVC and set the Defer_After = 0, or remove the entry. (13846) Windows Oracle 9i Plug-In Job can fail to complete during Job creation with the message “Failed to connect to the server!” This can be a failure to connect to server error. This issue can be caused by the RunAs UserName setting. Note: UserName = sys is sufficient. UserName = sys as sysdba is not required for Oracle 9i. (13809) The Agent Console could go into an endless loop showing "Load vvc file - remote load failed..." when the "EVault_Shared" folder cannot be found. This folder is used by Cluster Agents and non-cluster Agents and the problem may occur if the VVC file cannot be found. (13802) The Run As and Credentials tabs can be missing from the Job properties dialog after changing the admin password on the Agent. As a result, the SharePoint tree is not available in the Source tab. WORKAROUND: Close and re-open the Windows CentralControl application. (13199) "Common File Exclusion" option is disabled during "Create Task" for SharePoint but is enabled during "Edit Task". (13142) Vista and Windows Server 2008 no longer support .hlp files. WinHlp32.exe, which is used to run .hlp files, is no longer installed as part of Vista. You will get a message "Failed to launch help" (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607#appliesto). Users can download an update to install it to run old .hlp files, but Microsoft does not allow it to be redistributed by 3rd party software. The update is available at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607 SQL2005 database names cannot contain characters such as \ (backslash) and : (colon). They are not visible or selectable via CentralControl in the SQL plug-in backup selection list. The database names can manually be added to the task configuration (.vvc) file. Some vpr files are still created as Jobname#.vpr. The naming convention used when doing cross catalog (range of Safeset) restores is Jobname_Safeset#.vpr. Setting restore to "Restore Data Streams Only" will result in restoring all data streams. "Ignore alternate data streams" is always set to "No". Alternate data streams are restored. Windows CentralControl error messages during restore from another computer using same Safeset: "Connection to the Vault is not using encryption" and "Failed to create synchronize log file" in VVAgent-*.Xlog, and: “SSET-I-4748 Connection to the Vault is using AES encryption" in BUAgent-*.Xlog. If your default.lng file is older, and you launch a Repair on Windows CentralControl, the default.lng files is not replaced. Other language files are replaced. This situation occurs when both CentralControl and the Agent are installed to the same folder. They share the language sub-folder between them. If the Windows CentralControl is installed in the same folder as the Agent, then it will always assume the Agent is English. If you want to run Windows CentralControl in English, and the Agent in another language, you must install the Windows CentralControl in a folder separate from the Agent. MAPI catalog searches during Restore Wizard does not work as expected for mailboxes. The Active Directory Distinguished Name is used when referring to a mailbox name (i.e. CN=b1,CN=Users,DC=ex2k-on-w2kadvs,DC=com). So, instead of "name*" (for example), use the search pattern "CN=name*".
