EasyStreet recently made some improvements to our Unix Hosting platform. If you are having trouble logging in to your site, verify that you are connecting to ftp.hosting.easystreet.com with a username of yourdomain.com and a password which we sent via email. If you do not have that email, please contact our 24/7 Support at 503-906-7400. |
Unix Package Features | Migration Frequently Asked Questions
EasyStreet offers load-balanced, clustered Linux web servers running name-based Apache 1.3 web server with mod SSL option.
Users can upload their web pages using FTP. Dreamweaver also is compatible with this environment. If a secure/encrypted transfer method is needed, Value and higher accounts offer scp as an option.
The main method of publishing content to your site is FTP, though other development environments such as Dreamweaver also work. Our servers do not support SFTP, but we do allow scp for those needing an encrypted connection to the files stored on our server. You should have received an email with the specific settings for your account, which looks something like:
FTP Host Name: ftp.hosting.easystreet.com
User Name: yourdomain.com
Password: password from your User
Account Info sheet
Web pages go into the public folder.
Note: If using Dreamweaver, you will need to specify public for the remote directory.
Value and higher accounts also come with additional FTP features.
Adding FTP Users: This can be used for an FTP-dropbox type of account where users can both upload and download files using a regular FTP program. They are locked into the directory you specify at the time you create their account. This type of account may also be used if you have a department within your company that wants to manage their portion of the web site without having access to the rest of the web site content.
Usernames will be in the format username.yourdomain.com.
Enabling anonymous FTP: Make files available
to your customers for download by enabling anonymous FTP for your site.
File upload is not allowed.
Files are available for download via a url such as
ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com/yourdomain.com/
These are all found under the Statistics section of WebSiteOS.
Log files: Log files are available for download either from the log file manager control panel or via FTP to your logs directory.
The current month's log is named access_log. On the last day of the month the current log will rotate automatically into a file with the name of the month and year. The log from January 2005, for example, would be named: access_log_Jan31_2005.zip
Twelve months of log files are kept by our server. We also recommend downloading your log files to your local computer each month as a backup. To keep more than twelve months of logs on our server, you must move the logs to a different directory.
Log files can be rotated more frequently. Customers with large numbers of hits might want to rotate the logs daily or weekly instead. You can rotate them more often by designing an advanced Webalizer web statistics report and utilizing the section at the bottom right of the report which rotates log files and updates your statistics report at the interval you select.
Cron
Those needing to automate a process can use a script like Pseudo-Cron
instead (note: we haven't tested this script yet, but something like this would allow you to automate/schedule a process). Log file rotation is already automated.
